Who we are

At Lens of Ken, we inspire the younger generation to confidently express their creativity through art. Our lessons provide a space for children to explore different art styles and media with professional guidance, while also learning and growing alongside one another.

The main art media that we will be focusing on will be watercolour, colour pencil, graphite, acrylic and ink. Occasionally, we will explore some other types of art media and experiment with materials like chalk and charcoal, depending on the style being taught.

Lesson Structure

For the age group 14-18, the lesson begins with a 30-minute demonstration where we introduce the techniques and skills students will use to create their artwork. This is paired with a brief, engaging look at the art history and style we’ll be exploring that day.

Then an hour of practical work time, allowing children to freely explore their creativity within the given topic and drawing theme. They will apply the skills they’ve learned that day, with ongoing guidance and inspiration provided throughout the session.

Our classes run in small groups of 8–10 students. We value children’s well-being and aim to create an environment that goes beyond learning, a place where students can connect, feel comfortable, and form new friendships. Open conversation and shared inspiration are encouraged throughout each lesson.

Our lessons are divided into two age groups: 8-13 and 14-18, tailored to students’ learning abilities.

For ages 8–13, we place a stronger emphasis on creativity and self-expression. Throughout the lesson, children are guided through their thinking process with clear, step-by-step drawing demonstrations, helping them confidently translate their ideas and imagination onto paper.

About me

I am Kendrick, a second-year Architecture student, pursuing a career that involves creativity. I would like to share a personal story about myself here so everyone can get to know a bit about me.

Before my architectural journey began, before high school, and even before primary school, I remember sitting in the living room during the evenings, watching my mum draw beautiful traffic road maps and cars for me, as they were my favourite things as a child. She would also teach me how to draw with the crayons, and I would eagerly join in to help, or more accurately, “ruin” the drawings by colouring them in. This was during, or perhaps just before, kindergarten, and it remains one of my earliest memories. That period of my childhood is definitely what sparked my interest in art and creativity.

This made me understand the importance of being exposed to new activities from a young age, I started this art class to help the younger generation discover their passion for art and enjoy something beyond the world of social media today.
